FAQ Q262: What is the difference between packages and bundles?

Here are the main differences:

• Packages are simpler than bundles, they can be used to group multiple resources together in a single reservation but they are also often used to offer different versions of the same physical resource with the main purpose of making sure overbooking won't happen (e.g. a teacher who's available for private classes or a package which simply includes the same teacher for a special course for multiple persons)
• Packages will create a single reservation ID but bundles will create one reservation ID per reserved resource.
• Packages reserve all included resources for the same duration
• Packages can only include resources from the same planyo site, bundles can include resources from the entire meta site
• Bundles can include coupons (in case the exact rental time should be flexible) while packages don't have this possibility
• In case of subscription-based PRO sites: packages are usually free (p to 3 times the number of regular resources), while bundles are counted as normal resources
• Availability of packages in calendar previews correctly reflects the availability of all package contents. Calendar previews should not be used for bundles, only doing a search or entering the reservation form will give certainty that all bundle contents can be reserved at given time
• Packages can be flexible, meaning that one of many resources from each group can be reserved (e.g. include resource A and one of resources: B, C or D)
• A bundle can include packages in its contents but a package cannot include bundles
